NJ VINTAGE SHOPPING
I love a good bargain and I rarely pay full price especially when it comes to fueling my fashion addiction. My secret to getting designer pieces without breaking the bank is shopping at vintage and consignment shops. And luckily for me, my home state of New Jersey is a bargain hunters paradise. Here’s some of my favorite places to score fabulous fashion finds in The Garden State.
730 Bloomfield Ave
Colleen the owner is a sweetheart and finds the most amazing vintage pieces. She hands down has the best vintage clothing selection in the area and it is very reasonably priced. I once scored two vintage Louis Vuitton makeup cases for only $50. I try and pop in at least once or twice a month and I never leave empty handed.
1221 Bloomfield Ave
I only recently discovered this impressive consignment shop and I wish I had found it sooner. They carry everything from high-end furniture and elegant home decor to beautiful designer clothing and accessories. And the best part is all profits go to The Gloria Foundation, a non-profit initiative helping victims of domestic violence. I recently picked up a to die for Chanel scarf and a super chic fur coat all for under $150.
465 Bloomfield Ave
This hidden gem in Montclair is a place I could get lost in for hours. Just like the name says, it is literally hidden in the heart of Montclair. Once you ring the doorbell and head up a flight of stairs you have entered a vintage lovers paradise. There are racks upon racks of clothing from the 20’s to the 80’s. It is all neatly arranged and extremely organized. Be prepared to spend quite some time here as the selection is huge.
Salvation Army Thrift Store
417 Passaic County 622
43 Lakeside Ave
Pompton Lakes, NJ
If you are willing to do some digging this is a bargain hunters dream. The prices at The Salvation Army cannot be beat but you will have to pack a lot of patience while you search as it can take some time to find the treasures. My two favorite locations with the best selection are in Pompton Lakes and Passaic. Pompton Lakes has the best furniture selection and I always score big in women’s clothing in Passaic. My greatest Salvation Army find of all time was a pair of Prada pumps in perfect condition for a mere $5.
210 6th Ave
You know you’ve come to the right place when vintage shop owners shop here themselves to stock their stores. This is the mecca of vintage clothing in New Jersey. It’s a little off the beaten path located inside a big warehouse. Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. Once you’re inside you have hit the vintage jackpot, but it will take some digging. A first timer will be completely overwhelmed here. There are boxes upon boxes upon boxes of clothing and accessories. They have everything and anything; from army jackets, to 80’s dresses, to cowboy boots, to silk scarves. You name it you can without a doubt find it here.
